Confidence Building and Travel Skills
Our travel training programmes focus on transport familiarisation, confidence building, mobility skills and road safety. Training is flexible and person-centred, with programmes tailored to each individual’s goals and learning style.
Some people may achieve their objectives in a single session, while others may benefit from a series of sessions to build confidence and develop skills over time. All travel training is provided free of charge.
1:1 Training
Individual training sessions are designed to support confidence and skill development. Through personalised assessment and practical learning, participants can explore different travel scenarios and develop the travel and mobility skills needed to achieve their goals.
Small Group Training
Group training provides opportunities to build confidence, build essential travel skills and learn from peers in a supportive environment. Group sizes are kept small to ensure participants receive appropriate guidance and support throughout their training. This training is available to disability services and special school groups.

Registered Professional Programme
The Wayfinding Centre Registered Professional (RP) Programme enables professionals who support people with disabilities to deliver travel training at The Wayfinding Centre using our specialist facilities, resources, and training modules.
Who can become a Registered Professional?
Professionals joining the programme should have experience supporting people with disabilities and delivering training as part of their role. The following list provides examples of professionals who may be eligible to register:
- Orientation and Mobility Specialists and Mobility Instructors
- Occupational Therapists
- Physiotherapists and Physical Therapists
- Special Education Teachers and Educators
- Travel Trainers and Travel Assistants
- Rehabilitation Instructors
- Social Care Workers
- Other professionals with experience providing travel training
How Does it Work?
Participants attend an in-person Train the Trainer session at The Wayfinding Centre. During the session, they learn how to use the facility, understand relevant health and safety procedures and gain access to a range of resources and training materials that can be used to support their own travel training activities.
