On the International Day of Older Persons, we’re reminded of the importance of designing transport systems that work for everyone.
In late September, we were delighted to welcome Age Friendly Ireland to The Wayfinding Centre. National and Regional Managers from across Ireland, joined us for a session on how the Centre is helping to improve transport accessibility nationwide through training not only for people with disabilities, but importantly also for Transport Stakeholders and Built Environment professionals.
Together, we explored the real challenges faced by older adults and people with disabilities in using public transport and the public realm, and how universal design plays a key role in creating inclusive, safe, and user-friendly systems for all.
Collaboration like this is vital in building a more accessible transport system Ireland.
